April has a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Psychology, a master’s degree in Marital and Family Therapy and is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Utah and Idaho. She is the owner of CoreWork LLC Counseling and Coaching. She is currently working on a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology to expand her experience. She specializes in treating trauma including Complex PTSD and Dissociative disorders includes trauma work with many types of abuse. She also treats associated disorders including anxiety, depression, grief & loss, sexual compulsive behaviors and relational challenges. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Therapies used include Accelerated Resolution Therapy (like EMDR only better), Internal Family Systems, Integrated Processing Technique, Somatic therapies, CBT, DBT to name a few. She can't help herself, sh is constantly learning from all the amazing experts in this field to serve you with knowledge, skill and compassion. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, she works with disorders and challenges in the context of families and marriages as well with individuals. She also provides premarital, marriage counseling, navigating divorce, remarriage/blended family and adoption issues. She works on Attachment Injuries, boundaries setting and codependency issues. Assists clients in moving from self-soothing and getting triggered to living in Core Self. She has helped many individuals identify and understand being a Highly Sensitive Person and/or an Empath, how it impacts mental health (especially anxiety and addictions), and helps individuals learn to navigate associated challenges and learn about their unique gift. She also seems to end up working with ADHD a fair amount. April is the Director of Therapist Training at the Institute of Healing Arts and a Facilitator of Integrated Processing Technique (www.ihaofutah.com). April was born and raised in California. She has lived in Washington; Tokyo, Japan; Oregon; and enjoyed living in San Diego, California for 10 years before moving to Utah. She comes from a large family and thus had ample opportunities to watch family dynamics, marriages, divorces, parenting styles as well as deaths and transitioning challenges. She has up-close and personal experience with traumas, and loves to work clients on their healing journey. She loves training and educating therapists and others in our community. She offers presentations to group and at professional conferences.
